Improving the reliability of hard disk drive heads

TDK-Fujitsu is a strategic alliance between two technology leaders using Zontec's Synergy 2000 SPC software throughout its facilities in the Philippines for the processing and assembly of magnetic hard disk drive heads since 2002.

With the growing use of hard disk drives in mission-critical applications, top-notch reliability is essential. The drive head is the key differentiating component essential to meeting customers' stringent requirements for quality, performance and capacity.

"We are quite happy with Synergy 2000," says Michael Fiester, President, TDK Philippines Corp. "Our primary customer, though not a big supporter of SPC, is starting to ask to see our Synergy 2000 data. Their customers have come to audit our factory, and every one of them have been very impressed with our level of implementation. One of them went so far as to say they have never seen a second-tier supplier so far ahead in usage and understanding of SPC as we are."

A TDK sister plant in Hong Kong (SAE Magnetics) also uses Synergy 2000 software.
